Un-fun L.A.

so, after only arrivng at the wrong greyhoud depot, taking 2 city buses without a clue meetin gonly horrid rude locals all of whom have no idea how to get around this city either (including all but one bus driver) i found the hostel ebing 2 hours late.

i have arrived my one and only day in LA, and here i am already in a library using a computer, what does that say about it?
I'm staying in Hollywood near Hollywood Blvd. and Sunset blvd.
Going to a show at the chinese theatre tonoight, took some photos on the walk of fame and already eneded up on T.V. i think that pretty much sums up what there is to do here anyhow, so i'm good!
On to San Fran man!

Sunday was good

so yesterday i spent the day by myself in old town...its like lower fort garry -but the people just dress up , they dont act. left that pretty quick (boooring) and searched for this bazaar where i ended up buying a cool bracellet. smelled fresh made tortillas everywhere and didnt buy ONE! (good for me!) then i hopped a train to the Gaslampo Quarter wherei chilled out and saw a movie then i met this crazy street-dude who made me a paper flower out of a napkin...i loved it, we walked and talked...he seems to like to get in fights and go to jail - he also has a 25 year old daughter and his dad had him at 14 and has killed off 6 of his sons doing dodgy work...like i said, crazy.
anyhoo at night at teh hostel i FINALLY met cool s - sisters from Mexico/ Texas and an English from near London, we went out to a Hooka Bar downtown and ate food and met some guys.
sorry, this is very rushed....i have 2 minutes...i have booked a hostel for a night in LA i am leaving Wednesday as i realized yesterday i'

owww my throat

I'm SICK, yuck...
But that will not stop my sight seeing!!!
it DID make me a bit antisocial yesterday night, as i had no desire to shout over music at people, so i got ready for a night on teh town by myself. Figured, hit the Gaslamp Quarter, have a martini, write in my journal, whatever... get aall decked out...and what time do buses stop at OB? why 10pm of course! so...my plan was foiled as i can afford a taxi rideback, so i ended up with a crazy night at starbucks with me and a cappucino! then i went out with this girl Aisha for a martini on our street.
Today i will venture out to all ends of the city and TRY my hardest to hook up with Patrick and/or Mica before i leave.
Attempts to work for accomodation in San Fran arent doing well, so i figure, fuck it...i want time to walk around the city anyhow, and its one of the major places i wanted to see.
Now im just struggling with the decision as whether or not to stop in LA to document the crazy Newport beach rich people, or to just bypass it completely. I could go either way on the walk of fame too really :)dont care...
okay off i go!

1, 2, 3 days OB-ing

sunny 25 °C

IM HEEEERE!

Despite the fact that the entire process of arrive in San Diego was retarded, everything worked out amazingly! From the get-go with "heightened security" a.k.a stupid rules that prohibit liquid past check points in the airport and on plane a.k.a stupid rules that made me very thirsty...to delayed flights, to my bags being a flight behind me... i arrived only ummm 1 hour late?
I have been so welcomed since i got here. i phoned the hostel as soon as i got in and was speaking with an all too familiar Aussie accent -my ol' buddy Kyle! i get there and was greeted by Doc, Kyle, Katie, Tenesee, Pedro and introduced to all the new staff!
Within 15 minutes i had put my bags down, had a beer in my hand and was working my first shift as a hostess! - basically i show people around the hostel when they get in..thats it.
Yesterday i did housekeeping for 4 hours which sucked, bt im back to doing the hostess thing today :)
I've made a good friend, one of my work-mates and my bunk-mate Pedro..a different one...there are two.
He is a GREAT tour guide! and SO motivating..yesterday we worked and then hopped on bikes, along with Sonni from Arizona, and with intetnions on going to Balboa Park (and i'll have to show pictures because this place is f-ing HUGE it holds at least 10 museums and the San Deigo Zoo) -we ended up on a 4 hour bike ride through old town, the park, the gaslamp quater and all along the water. It was INTENSE, with some hills we had to walk the bike up because it was impossible to ride! - The payoff was sweet thought, when we got to cruise down the hills most of the way home - Pedro went through all the stop signs and just gave 'er AALLL THE WAY DOWN!!! we barely made it home by dark, and missed the BBQ, but the views we saw were absolutely worth that and the sore ass i have now.
All in all, great first three days. I cannot believe how similar everything is to last year. I can't figure out if its cool or sad that nothing here has changed including most staff at the hostel, yet i love it still...oh well.

Pre-departure thoughts / worries

-thinking too much-

sunny

Well well well,
I'm, slowly but surely inching my way out of the cave and into the 21st century - A BLOG FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
What does 'blog' even stand for? -doesnt matter right now..but someone should inform me.

So, I'm really struggling to get moved in and unpacked in time to be able to have fun on the long weekend comming up that includes a birthday extravaganza and a camping trip to Gimli and the Icelandic festival, and I'm hoping to have the place looking alright enough to have a short but sweet "hey this is my new place, see you in a month" party. -UGH! - so...on top of that it has recently been brought to my attention that I leave on this west coast adventure that I'm already committed to taking in a WEEK and a HALF! WTF?
I'm getting last minute what if's and oh no's and it's all rather exciting!!!! ahh how i love the anxiety that preceeds these things i get myself into. But unlike ever before i have no fall back..no safety net just $1000 US Dollars and the road between San Diego and Vancouver...ahhh...
